OK, just had the 10K service on my 2006 Prius. Since I did not use the dealer for this service the service person had no idea how to reset the maintenance light so it will turn off. How do you reset it????

Make sure your odometer is displayed (ODO). Power the car down. Press and hold the ODO button and power up the car. Continue to hold the ODO button and you will see the display flash. When the normal odometer reading shows, release the ODO button. The Maint Req has been reset for another 5000 miles.

The instructions are in your Owner's Manual.

Thank You, that worked and I did look very carefully in the Owners manual under section 7 and 8 about Maintenance and found no trace of it. So, again, Thank You!
Page 122-123 of the US 2004 Prius Owner's Manual (Section 2-5 "Operation of Instruments and Controls: Gauges, Meters and Service Reminder Indicators", item (j) in the "Service reminder indicators and warning buzzers" section. I assume it is in that same general area of the 2006 manual.

Just curious, but why didn't you have your service done by a dealer? Was it cost, and if so, how did the final price compare with that of the dealer? Was everything done that is suggested by the manual and posters who replied to your question about the 10K service?
I have found my dealer to be competitive in pricing and have been able to have routine service done while I wait. The Toyota techs know things about the Prius that outsiders may not, the least of which may be the resetting of the maintenance light.
