Default Replacement horns

I was going to replace the horns with Stebel Nautilus horns but heard that there are Camry or Corolla horns that are very much louder then the Prius ones. Has anyone replaced their horns with these?

But just "thank the Lord" that most folks can go through life without ever using their horn. I guess it is a human personality thing! However the law requires manufacturers to install them. (Come to think about it, The "Road Runner" would not be humerous without his "beep, ..beep!)

Just curious...why do you want a louder horn for your Prius??

Yes indeed~
Horns are a very important safety feature, and their use is only a sign of aggression or pique by the aggressive or piqued~

I have alerted/warned many an errant driver by horn signal, and occasionally wished for a much louder pair to ensure penetration into their hi-fi cabins or rap numbed ears~

The boating industry has some excellent marine horns, some of which are very compact, but quite pricey~

Note that each additional 3db of loudness rating is a doubling of the loudness (103 db is twice as loud as 100 db); however, the distance from the horn that the measurement is made is a crucial element of the specification, and must also be noted for comparison~

My thought is if you are any sort of an "alert" driver, you would never need a horn! (SUV's again!.....WOW)

As an 'alert driver', I have avoided a number of near collisions caused by other drivers' inattention and recklessness. Many of these were avoided by evasive maneuvering; In some instances, the only way to avoid the collision was by blowing the horn to bring the situation to the attention of the errant driver.

Maintaining a safe distance and avoiding other situations which often precede collisions is crucial to preventing them. But blowing the horn is a useful last resort, whether it is to keep someone from colliding with you, or when you see other vehicles about to tangle with each other.

I still have to observe that if you don't use a cell-phone in a car, drink a beverage in a car, or use the radio in a car you should never need a horn. I wonder if they are even installed on NASCAR vehicles. I know they are not on "Indianapolis" cars.
