Default Heater/Cooling fan cuts out intermittently

At first from time to time, and now more frequently, when we turn on the car the air conditioner fan will not work at all. Setting it to any fan speed will not "wake" it up. It appears that in A/C mode the system is cooling, since when in motion ~40mph or more you can feel that the air being forced into the interior appears cooled. Just not moving very fast.

The only relief is to turn the car off and start it again, usually somewhat later. Haven't tried pulling over and stopping/restarting immediately; that may work.

This happens in A/C and in heating mode. Is there something I could look at before turning it over to the dealer?

Thanks.

Don.

I have the same problem. The AC fan stops and restarts intermittently while driving. I'll post again once I get it resolved. Any suggestions would be appreciated. This is a 2007 Prius. This AC problem does not seem related to any other problem or repairs.

Just experienced the "sticky fan" problem on our 2006.

Solution was to remove the lower glove compartment drawer,
with the vehicle powered and fan activated, tap the center
(axle/stem) of the fan assembly with the plastic end of a pen.

The fan broke loose of whatever was causing it to stick.

The plan is to blast the fan area with compressed air and to
lubricate with a "dry" Molybendum/Teflon spray - unless
someone recommends otherwise.

(I would use a "sewing machine" oil but have had better
experience with the dry lubricants not capturing dust particles.)
