Default Replacement tires

Need to replace tires on 2005 Prius and would like to use a tire that reduces road noise and rides well but still is LRR so my fuel economy will not take a big hit. Not sure how long I will keep this car so would rather not spend the money for Michelin Defenders but don't want cheap tires either. Have been looking at Bridgestone Ecopia EP442 but have seen very mixed reviews on tire websites. Anyone have any experience with the Bridgestones? Any other recommendations?

Tire Rack has Michelin Defenders on sale for $113 each, with a $70 rebate on a set of four. That brings the price down to less than $100 per tire.

Other tire stores like Discount Tire, will usually price match Internet prices.

Personally, I prefer Michelins, because Bridgestones don't wear as evenly or as long. Plus, if you decide to sell your Prius, new cheap tires may raise some doubt as to condition and maintenance practices. (If I was looking at a used car with brand new, cheap tires on it, I'd think the owner was trying hiding alignment or suspension problems. But, that's just me.) I'd be less suspicious of a used car with good quality new tires on it.

I take a look at the different tires for your car on the Website below, and their "Survey" results and "Reviews", and pick what fits your budget.

Hello everybody! We now have a strong ice, afraid to break my chips. Advise good tires.
