Do you have snow tires? Not sure about later models, but "classic Prius" models were poor in ice and snow, because traction control would not allow tires to spin, even slightly. Consequently, in bad weather, some even had trouble driving up slight grades into their driveways.

Suggest you get good snow tires, with studs if you live where driving conditions warrant them and they are allowed.

Studs are only good on Ice, but there are a lot of good winter tires on the market. We drove the Prius all year round in Austria, and have loads of snow, but of course without the correct tires it is rather useless. 4 wheel drive with Summer Slicks would also get stuck, but most 4 wheelers are equipped with offroad tires, which gives them the "miracle" performance. (if you look closely they are all marked M&S which means mud & snow, nice, but low milage and high gas consumption).
I have had good experiences with the Goodyear Eagle Ultra Grip -9 which you can view in www.tirendo.at among many other tires.
Of course you have to check the dealers for your location, this is an Austrian link, you can also try the http://www.tirendo.us/ for your location which may have other names for the same tire.
