I'm planning on doing some ugrades to the PriusOnline site over the next week or so and want to know if there are any new features you would want to see here. Some of the things I'm considering is a mileage database, chat room, and a searchable links database. Let me know what you want to see and I will add them if possiable.
New visitor here. This site is pretty hard to find but has lots of great information and is far easier to search than any of the YGs. I suggest you install one of phpBB's google mods so the site can be crawled by google. PM me for a recommendation on which one
I'd like to see a new forum category for buying/selling. It seems like recent messages along these lines have been met with some pretty nasty responses. Perhaps this wouldn't be the case under a separate topic, or at least it would move the anger away from the main topics.
I would love to see an RSS feed. There are a ton of techies out there who use RSS readers to get their blog fix, and many of them are also into cool technology like hybrids. You could get a lot of traffic...
Would like to see more information from others about their experiences and in particular about the battery technology. I have 97,000 miles on our 2001 Prius and would like more information on how the electronics work to change the car from battery to gas. I would hope we could increase the amount of battery storage to increase the time on battery for city driving.
Hello, I am not a member however like to help when I can. If you want to help you can let your members know toyota is trying for now to hide for now that a major recall is coming for 01-02-03 prius. batteries (hybrid) are leaking alkaline and causing corrosion and chance for short to body. (ouch 274 volts)
I'd like to second the suggestion for an RSS feed. I get most of my news via RSS these days--it saves so much of the time and effort needed to go from site to site.
PriusChat has one--sooner or later most news sources will too.
1. RSS: One of the weaknesses of any enthusiast forum is the ebb and flow of enthusiasm -- the most important factor for the success of an enthusiast forum is getting timely, correct and useful answers. But sometimes posts go unanswered or it takes a long time to get good replies. I'd reply more frequently if I was responding to a feed rather than having to find time to actively scan recent posts for points where I might have some value to add to the discussion.
2. Fewer forums: A single forum covering all mods/after-market products/factory upgrades/equipment/accessories.
There are "other" Prius sites where various topics are broken out into multiple forums with arbitrary distinctions that end up just making it difficult to search and find things when the topic doesn't have an each search phrase. eg. "adding an extra battery" ... could be "general" or a "technical" or a "mod" or a "performance upgrade" ... so I'd seriously just dump all the tech/mod stuff into one thread.

Only thing I can think of (since it's so well done already) is the ability for the choice at the bottom for "Oldest First" or "Newest First" to either default to "Newest First", put the choice "box" at the top of the page or better yet remember your choice from one login to the next ie. "make a cookie" for it.
Oh yeah, and maybe get Coastal Dave to be more "active" - in all respects. (Kelley, are you "listening"?)
Getting the word out about when to insist Toyota dealers try the Hybrid battery charger rather than
going directly to replacement of the Hybrid battery. We were just charged $3900 and then learned that the battery charger was available but hadn't been offered.
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
